I don’t really know how to start this note as it seems my mind is racing in 1000 different directions, full throttle.
I have a lot of stuff on my mind, but really, what’s new?
I’m going to be quick and cut to the chase here: this note is for the encouragement of anyone who decides to read this, and most importantly, I think in retrospect this will be a great encouragement to myself. And I will be the first to admit that it is okay to encourage yourself if need be, I just may not be doing so in a manner that exclaims “why are you downcast O my soul?”….I am blessed to know so many different people, creative and diverse in all of their ways. It is nice to be inspired, encouraged and edified from time to time…so I’m bringin’ on the encouragement! (Or at least I hope…) I am aware that many of us continue to put a smile on our faces day after day, when the inside, is struggling to cope or manage through the fire of life’s hardships, curve-balls and ordained trying seasons. For some, the battle may be financial, while others may be suffering in physical or emotional pain, trusting and hoping in God that some new breakthrough will come through. Maybe you’re reading this and you have just lost a loved one or a friend. It’s times like these when we cry out to God from our hearts in great brokenness with humility, knowing that our lives, no matter how well we plan our steps, are out of our control. You don’t have to necessarily be a Christian, to understand what I’m talking about, because somewhere, sometime- you’ve been there. You’ve resorted to the unthinkable….. you’ve cried out to God, a power greater than yourself with the hopes that something other than yourself would bring you some kind of restoration or resolution to a situation you faced. Now, no matter what the outcome of your situation….I want to remind you….that God has not forgotten about you. I repeat, God has not forgotten about you.
Sometimes God may not answer us in a way that we would expect or ‘dictate’ him to, but rather, he is working on ways to strengthen us, and bless us through the hard times we face. He knows what’s best for us, and to be quite frank…. we don’t. A lot of times the hurt we go through is God protecting us from further pain, or sometimes the enemy can be trying to discourage us…BUT God can turn around every situation that was meant for harm- for good. Through these hard times God wants us to cling to him harder and stronger. He wants us, because he loves us. Let me personalize this: He is with you in your current struggle even though it may seem like the world is crumbling to pieces around you. Christ himself suffered, he walked a lonely path seeking only the glory of his Father, and in the process- the sanctification of a broken people, God’s chosen people. His promise for us is that he will never leave us or forsake us, and what a joyous day it will be when he returns and we can be with him. The bride and the bridegroom will one day be united. I’m excited for my future home, new Jerusalem. This is only temporal, and our new home will be with the one who “comforts the brokenhearted”. Take great joy in this, whatever you have lost ….you will gain. For example, If you don’t have a family now…. in Gods kingdom (heaven), you will have an enormous family!! There will be no more pain… no more tears… and God will continually be our provider. (No, I’m not talking about a hummer!..) This is exciting news isn’t it? The current sorrow we face, will soon dissipate as we are in the presence of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We will experience joy to the full, and no longer will be trying to fill up the empty voids in our hearts…. because we will be with the one who was created to fill that void. We were created for him. Now contrary to popular belief, God loves us, and he isn’t waiting for us to become some “super-human”, because unfortunately, we will never be good enough, or perfect to ever meet with Gods standards. But that’s exactly why Jesus died. When he hung on that cross, he faced the wrath of God as the most vile sinner to have ever lived when in reality, he was the only righteous man to have lived. On that cross he took on our guilt and shame and in exchange, now we take on the righteousness of Christ. We are now declared as righteous through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Now when God looks at us, he see’s us righteous and blameless before him….because of his ordained act, because of his pre-meditated plan for us. This is called substitutionary atonement. [2 cor 5:21]
When Jesus died for you and me on the cross, he did so fully aware that you are a sinner and will always be a sinner, in need of salvation to be in unity with God the father again because of our broken covenant in the garden of Eden…. cue “sin”. God wants you, he desires you, he loves you, he is jealous for you…..so much so that he created a body in which he could die for you. Cue “Jesus the Messiah”. Christ died for us while we spat in his face, flogged him, nailed him to that tree. He died for the soldiers that cursed his name and mocked him. Don’t you see what I’m saying? Christ already did this! We don’t have to live up to some perfect standard and then turn to God…because Christ died for us while we were still sinners. [Rom 5:8] The true body of Christ is made up of sinners….contrary to popular belief. Us Christians are prone to make mistakes just like any human being. The only difference is we have a new found desire to “try” and run away from those things that will hinder us and stop us from missing the mark. (Thank you holy spirit!) We act in a different way, because Christ saves us and the only logical reaction is to love him through our actions. [James 2:20] I am not perfect, I have made mistakes and still do. But this is why I fall in love with the character of God more and more- because it dosen’t make sense. It’s scandalous. He loves me and continues to have mercy on me…even when I loose sight of Him and his plans. Yes, he is JUST, and vengeance belongs to him, but that is a different note. There is nothing on earth that can or ever will compare to the love that God has for us, and has actively displayed for us. God has not forgotten about you. He sent his son to die for you…to pay what you owe because of your violation of the laws of a holy and sovereign God. He is pursuing you, he has created this wonderful world around you for his glory, and your benefit. He has provided a roof over your head, food for you to eat, husbands and wives…isn’t he good? God has not forgotten about you.
FYI: I’m not talking about ‘universalism’ in this note saying everyone will be saved, because that’s not the case. So many will reject Christ with hard hearts even on their death beds…but, for those who are reading this with some nagging on their hearts, a sense of urgency and realization of what Christ has done for you…I pray that you would continue to seek God out. Read the bible, pray and seek out Gods face until he answers you- If what is happening to you is of God, he will complete the good work he’s started. [Phil 1:6] But if you have read this, and want to continue to push God away, ask yourself why you are doing so. He is faithful when we are faithless. He won’t ever forsake us, but many choose to forsake him. Even though he is offering us a GIFT. We don’t have to do anything, because he already did it. Will you accept him? He will still be Lord of your life whether you love him or not. Because he is the king of kings and Lord of Lords. God loves you so much, he knows your hurts and pains, he sees your thoughts and deeds and wants you to call out to HIM for help. You may have been hurt and abandoned, but God won’t leave you. Once your his, your his- and nothing can separate us from his love.
Gal 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Be Blessed!!!Much love fam.
